This week’s picks on what to see this weekend. There’s not that much going on, but for more listings check out here and here. I’m not going to plug it below, but consider checking out the really fun beach party going on Saturday night at The Hills.
Uncrumpling This Much Crumpled Thing @ The Exhibition Agency
Ok, so the show’s description might be a superfluously wordy version of “here be things that look like other things,” luckily I like when things look like other things enough to let that pass. Artists Gina Beavers, Chris Bradley, Andrew Guenther, Anna Krachey, Elisa Lendvay, Tim Louis Graham and Eliza Myrie will make up the show’s lineup, and the reception will be held Saturday, August 28th from 7-10PM @ The Exhibition Agency, 2351 N Milwaukee Ave, 2.
Ground Floor @ Hyde Park Art Center
Its never too late to celebrate Chicago’s newest MFA students, and that’s exactly what Ground Floor will be all about in Hyde Park. The timing of the show is a little late for introductions, as the three or four months since graduation time has already been enough for some artists to show in the meanwhile. Some of the names in this show might be familiar to you already, some might be brand new, but all the work will be brand new. Artists include Daniel Bruttig, Katy Collier, Chris Cuellar, Bonnie Fortune, Maria Gaspar, Joe Grimm, Adam Grossi, Emily Hermant, Jeremiah Hulsebos-Spofford, Samantha Jaffe, Daniel Lavitt, Lisa Lindvay, Brian Matthew, Jesse McLean, Matthew Metzger, Jessie Mott, Eliza Myrie, Jennifer Ray, Mia Rollow, Michael Sirianni and Olivia Valentine. The show opens Sunday, August 29th from 3-5PM @ Hyde Park Art Center, 5020 S Cornell Ave.
and if that doesn’t work, maybe another art fair
